Everything you need to know
Got a question before you reach out? Here are the ones I hear most often.
How far in advance should I book a musician for my wedding?
Most couples book between six and twelve months out, especially for peak season dates in Wanaka and Queenstown (November through April). If you have a date in mind, it's worth getting in touch early to check availability. Popular weekends fill up quickly.
Do you travel outside Wanaka and Queenstown?
Yes. I regularly perform across Central Otago and beyond. If you're getting married at a more remote venue, just ask — I'm happy to discuss travel and will always do my best to make it work.
How long do you perform for?
It depends on what you've booked. For a canapés or cocktail hour set I typically play for around two hours. For a reception, it's usually three to four hours. If the night's going well and the dancefloor is still full, I'm not watching the clock.
Can you play music during the dinner service?
Yes. I can either perform through dinner myself or run a curated playlist through my professional sound system, whichever suits the vibe you're after. Either way, the music doesn't stop.
Can you learn a special song request?
Absolutely. With over 400 songs already in my catalogue, there's a good chance your request is already there, but if it's not, I'm happy to learn it. I just ask for at least two months' notice so I can do the song justice, not just learn the chords.
What equipment do you bring?
I bring a complete professional sound setup - PA system, microphones, guitar and all rigging. You don't need to organise anything. I also have a battery-powered setup available for outdoor venues where power isn't accessible, which is handy for a lot of Central Otago locations.
Do you take requests on the day?
Yes! It's one of my favourite parts. I love making the night interactive, taking requests from guests and reading what the room wants to hear. It's one of the things that makes live music feel alive in a way a playlist simply can't.
What does the booking process look like?
It's straightforward. We check the date, chat through your event details, and a deposit secures the booking. Closer to the day we'll finalise the song list and run sheet. I also set up a group message so you can drop song ideas in as they come to you, no need to have everything sorted upfront.
