What Happens When You Book Sean? From First Enquiry to Your Wedding Day

No surprises. Just good music and an easy process. One of the most common things I hear from couples after their wedding is that the music side of things was the easiest part of the day to organise. That's as it should be. Here's exactly what the process looks like when you book me.

Step 1: Check the date

The first thing I do when an enquiry comes in is check availability for your date. If I'm free, we'll move quickly from there. If you're in the early stages of planning and haven't locked in a date yet, that's fine too, reach out and we can have a conversation. Most couples book between six and twelve months out, so if you're thinking about live music for your wedding, sooner is better.

Step 2: Chat through the details

Once the date is confirmed, we'll talk through your event, things like - what kind of ceremony you're having, how long the reception runs, what kind of vibe you're after. This can happen over email or, if you'd prefer, a Zoom call. I find a quick call often works well at this stage, it's a chance to properly introduce ourselves and talk through things more naturally.

Step 3: Secure the date

Once we're both happy, a quote goes out and a deposit secures the date. Straightforward from there.

Step 4: The song list, take your time

Here's something worth knowing: you don't need to have your song list sorted at booking. That comes later, closer to the event. What I do ask is that any special requests come through at least two months before the day. That gives me time to properly learn a song and do it justice, not just learn the chords, but really sit with it and make sure it's right. For ongoing song requests and ideas in the lead-up to your wedding, I usually set up a group message on Instagram or Facebook. It's a low-pressure way to drop songs in as you think of them, and it keeps everything in one place rather than scattered across emails.

Step 5: The fortnight before

I'll check in around two weeks before the day to make sure everything is on track. This is a good time to confirm the run sheet, finalise any last requests, and sort any logistics around setup and arrival time.

On the day

I arrive early, set up, soundcheck, and I'm ready well before guests arrive. From there, I'm focused on reading the room and making the music feel right for every moment from the quiet of the ceremony to the dancefloor later in the evening. If the night is going well and people are still on the floor, I'm not watching the clock. Once I'm booked, I'm there for the night.
